How we started
Aqua Laundromat has served the Chelsea community at 29 Central Ave since the 1980s. We fully renovated and reopened in 2020 with new washers and dryers that leave less moisture in your clothes, so drying is faster.
Inside you'll find plenty of folding space, detergent vending machines, a sound system, TVs, and comfortable seating, plus several ways to pay.
For generations of Chelsea families, Aqua has been more than a place to clean clothes. We keep prices competitive so good laundry service fits a family budget, and we're a short walk from the bus. A patio for families is on the way.
A greener laundromat
We keep improving the laundromat, and we've worked to lower our carbon emissions along the way.

Solar power
Solar panels on the roof produce about 30% of our electricity. We buy the rest with renewable energy credits certified by Green-e.

Smarter lighting
Motion-activated LED lights and ambient light sensors dim and brighten based on daylight and how many people are inside. That cut our lighting electricity by about 50%.

Heat pumps
We replaced our natural gas heating system with energy-efficient heat pumps.

Efficient machines
All-new Dexter and Continental Girbau washers, installed in 2022, cut our water use by about 30%.
